A Bit About Me

Kevin Jaillett’s life has been defined by a deep commitment to protecting others and strengthening the community he calls home. With more than 25 years in the fire service, he has built a reputation not only as a skilled firefighter, but as a steady, dependable presence in moments when people need help the most. Kevin is white water rescue trained, Firefighter 1, Firefighter 2, ICS 100,200,700 and is a former trained EMT-B. He is currenty training to become an Ice Rescue Technician (IRT).

His passion for service also led him to take action where he saw a need. By helping form and support initiatives focused on rapid wildfire response, Kevin has worked to ensure that rural communities are not left waiting when time is critical. His belief is simple: early action saves land, homes, and lives.

At his core, Kevin is driven by a strong sense of duty, integrity, and care for others. Whether on the fire line, in training, or working alongside his community, he remains committed to doing the work that protects both people and the place they live.

Firefighting Experience

1997  -  2004

2006  -  2025

2025  -  Current

Kevin began his fire service career in 1997 with Cowlitz County Fire District 5 in Kalama, Washington. During this time, he also served on the Kalama chemical fire response team, where he received specialized training in handling hazardous incidents within an industrial plant environment. This early experience established a strong foundation in both industrial fire safety and community-based emergency response.

Kevin joined Gem County Fire Protection District 2 in 2006. He quickly earned a reputation as a dependable leader and skilled instructor, serving as the department’s Training Officer in 2010 before being promoted to Assistant Chief in 2012. Kevin proudly served Gem County District 2 Volunteer department for almost 20 years and as assistant chief for 13 of those years.

Driven by a commitment to better serve his community, Kevin  founded Gem State Wildfire Services in late 2025  to address critical gaps between traditional structural fire response and the limited initial attack capabilities often available for wildland incidents. His vision emphasizes rapid, boots-on-the-ground response—prioritizing immediate action to contain and mitigate fires before they escalate.
